Feet

  • Diabetes-related foot problems usually occur in older people with neuropathy and vascular complications
  • Discussion of potential problems with the feet is advisable to avoid or treat
    • trauma and infection
    • ingrowing toenails (and paronychial infection)
    • tinea pedis (athlete’s foot)
    • biomechanical problems (ill-fitting footwear)
    • callus formation (look for limited joint mobility)
